A friend of mine is considering a 331 and wants to enjoy the freedom a lifting keel might offer him – in terms of “up river” buoys, rather than beaching her or mud berths etc. He has a number of questions which BOA members might be able to comment on: What is the sailing performance like? Is it as good as the deep fin? How does she handle under power, particularly at slow speeds and astern, given the twin rudder configuration.? Does the keel knock against the keel casing at any time? He has heard that it can - both whilst moored and whilst sailing. Is this true? Are there any issues relating to raising and lowering the keel? Are there any problems with material getting lodged between the keel and the casing? Are there any particularly difficult maintenance issues? Many thanks Colin
