headliner falling on 1985 beneteau

Hi,
We just bought a 1985 First 305 beneteau and within the first two months the headliner in the quarter berth fell. The insulation is half on the liner and half on the boat. Very messy. I have heard that some people just replace the headliner without the insulation and I have also heard that going without the insulation will produce new big problems like considerable condensation. Some use 3m adhesive and say it works, some say that in summer heat (California) the adhesive melts. Has anyone replaced the headliner and had success with the results for more than one season? Please let me know any hints-we are getting ready to tackle the problem, and I only want to do it once.
