advice to clean Speed log impella

I have a 411 and it is a pain to lift the boards to get to the log! It is always full of crudd and live stuff so is always packing up after a day or two if not used
I have tried cleaning it with a tooth brush and wd40, olive oil and just scrubbing it with hot boiling water but nothing keeps it clear 2 days max
1 Has anybody done a mod in the floor boards [ both have to come up!]to make easier access ?
2 Anybody found a cure to keeping the crudd and Co away longer? My 411 is copper coated don't know if this is a factor all we get on the hull is a brown slime very pleased with it 411 has not been out of the water in 20 months
