fitting hand rails to cabin tops

There no hand rails on the cabin top of our recently purchased first 300 [11 years old]
The owner’s manual shows that the Genoa car track was fitted on the cabin top. But on our boat they are fitted to the deck
Does anyone know if the cabin top was reinforced to take the track? If it was then maybe it is OK to fit the hand rail instead
