I own a 1985 First 25 and recently had the misfortune to loose the rudder below the lower hinge fitting while sailing downwind in blustery conditions.It certainly concentrated the mind.
Is there anyone out there with the same model who could oblige me with the overall length and width dimensions as there has been no response from the local Beneteau distributor.
As a matter of interest, assuming it is the original rudder, that would make it 22 years old.
Looking at the remaining, upper part of the rudder, the reason for the departure of the lower half was water ingress into the ply at the lower hinge fitting bolt holes, causing rot.
