I have a Yanmar 4JH2 DTE marine diesel engine on my Oceanis 44cc which has done approx 1200 hours running and is showing too much bluish white smoke from the exhaust. The engine has been relatively lightly used (in a sailing yacht) and very well maintained, always within manufacturers recommendations. The engine, other than the annoying smoking performs very well indeed and has given no problems on starting or running. It uses very little oil, needing only "a cup full" between oil changes. A local engineer (here in Greece) in an attempt to rectify the problem has replaced the injector nozzles, had the turbo serviced by Yanmar agents in Athens, replaced the mixing elbow and adjusted the fuel injection timing. He has today carried out a compression test and finds equal pressure on all cylinders at 275 psi. Is this the correct pressure or is it low? If so what would it suggest? As I say, the engine performs as well now as it did when new except for this(excessive) smoking. Any help anyone can give in terms of advice would be appreciated. Regards
