Well my once a year pilgrimage to the Southampton boat show happened today! With my free tickets Courtesy of Beneteau and the Owners Association thank you Carl! So first visit has to be the Beneteau stand and onto the biggest for a tour of the fantasy beneteau 50 mmmm nice finish but, white leather ! That will look good with my Protuguese water dog fresh back from a forage on the beach! And bushes! mmmmmm Brown leather!
But it did look nice and some great features, New! well not really, but very nice almost going backwards to when Beneteaus had a great finish inside.
The best boat in the show for me! is the sorry to say this, The Moody 45DS! I read the reports,it sails well, I saw it last year, and hated it! but .... this year its finished better, 3 cabin version not two and a year of me sailing my great lovable 411 has made me aware that I like to see out the windows and don't like getting wet or blown away in a force 7! lol My other half has a foot that sometimes trips her up! But the Moody has a high hull rim before the Rail starts and great walk round protection and a Deck saloon to Die for Great view and huge lockers, two lockers that are so deep you could make them cabins !!! Im in love but ..... 425,000 kitted out, is a bit steep but ... it has the space of a 50ft inside! Am I going nuts it's a caravan with a sail or a motor sailor ! or is it a new Look at a Yacht that is not all downstairs and small windows!or a compromise is it,a refreshing new look at a new concept should we all look at the future or is it all a compromise! well I had a great day with not enough hours and too many things to see eg water maker £5000! And spent £1745 on a new Garmin 4008 gps plotter radar system in colour! for the helm inc a gold upgrade for cartography and things! Great value and two plastic mats for a the heads shower area! But nothing made me go wow!!!! .... no just a great day out ! and fond memorise of a nice day again!
Well we have been out again to try the Jenneau 50ds but as much space inside and out as the 45ds, the 50! its too big! to long and dare I say it, It is a nice yacht! just feel it is not built to last, unlike the older Beneteau's its seems lighter inside and out and in the build, we did not have time to sea trial but think we might try it but .... its still the Moody 45 DS it just won't go away apart from the price, now Marilyn wants to try the Southerly lifting keel as it is the same price as the Moody and .... lift keel! I am starting to feel we are going around in a big circle Voyageur is going to be repainted blue again and have a Vetus Bow thruster fitted this winter and unless the Moody comes down in Price I think it's going to be live with what we have.
